The team
Meet Our Team
Nepali guides and office staff who have spent seasons on the routes before they ever answered your email.
Nepal Travel Mate is run by people who have spent their working lives on these trails. We plan and run every trip in-house. No reseller layer, no handing you off to a stranger at the trailhead. Here is the kind of person you deal with at each stage.
The guides
Our lead guides are licensed by the Nepal Tourism Board, in line with the April 2023 rule that put a licensed guide with every trekking group. They are trained in wilderness first aid. They carry a pulse oximeter on every trek and check it regularly above 3,000 m. They keep acclimatisation conservative; getting you up slowly beats getting you up fast.
Most of them grew up in or near the regions they guide, or worked them for years before they led their first group. Across Khumbu (Everest), Annapurna, Manaslu, and Langtang, the guide walking with you knows the villages, the weather patterns, and which teahouse has a working stove in a cold snap. They have seen altitude go wrong on other people's trips, and they would rather turn you around than push past a warning sign.
We would rather call a trek early than carry a sick client higher. A guide who knows when to stop is worth more than one who knows every shortcut.
The Kathmandu office
Behind every trek is the office that makes it legal and possible. They handle permits in-house: TIMS, ACAP, MCAP, Sagarmatha National Park entry, and restricted-area permits where your route needs them. You do not chase paperwork around Kathmandu; we do.
They are also the people who answer your email. We reply within one working day, with a straight answer rather than a sales pitch. Dates, group size, a trek you have in mind, a question about fitness: it lands with someone who has booked these trips before and will tell you honestly what works.
The porters
No trek runs without porters, and we treat them as colleagues, not labour. Loads stay within TAAN guidance, which caps a porter's pack at around 25 kg. Every porter is insured. We give them warm gear for the high, cold sections rather than assuming they will find their own.
They are part of the team that gets you up and down safely, and we pay and protect them accordingly.
Our people
The roster below is filled in by us so you can see who you are trekking with.
[OWNER: add team members here — for each person: name, role, one honest sentence. Example: "Name — Lead Guide, Khumbu region. NTB-licensed, 10+ seasons to Everest Base Camp."]
