Founder's Message

I started Nepal Travel Mate because I wanted to run trips the way I always wished they had been run when I was a guide for other people.

For years I led treks I had no hand in planning. I watched clients arrive with the wrong dates, the wrong expectations, and sometimes the wrong route for their fitness, because the people who sold the trip had never walked it. I watched porters carry too much. I watched groups pushed up too fast because the itinerary left no room to rest. I knew there was a better way to do this, and I knew it had to be run by people who had actually been on the trail.

So this company is small on purpose. I would rather know every trip we run than scale into something I cannot stand behind.

The mountain does not care how good your brochure is. It cares whether you respected it.

Here is what I promise on every trip. Your guide will be NTB-licensed, trained in first aid, and known to me personally. We will go up at a pace your body can handle, because conservative acclimatisation above 3,000 m is how people stay well at altitude. We will carry a pulse oximeter and ask you to carry insurance that covers a helicopter, because hoping nothing goes wrong is not a plan. We will treat the people who carry the loads fairly, keep those loads within TAAN limits, and pack out what we pack in.

I will also be honest with you before you ever pay. If your dates are wrong for the season, I will say so. If a route is harder than you think, I will say so. If you would have a better trip on a different trail, I will point you there. I would rather you trust me than book the wrong thing.

We work across Khumbu, Annapurna, Manaslu, and Langtang, and we handle the permits so you do not have to. The office sorts the logistics. My job is to make sure the mountain part is done right.
