Why we started Nepal Travel Mate, and the promise we make on every trip.
A Message From Our Founder
Santosh Magar (Founder, CEO & Managing Director)
I grew up in Kathmandu, watching my father welcome guests into our home. He has worked in Nepal's tourism industry for more than twenty years, and every time he brought travelers home, I found myself curious about where they were headed and what they had seen. That curiosity stayed with me, and it eventually pushed me to start traveling on my own.
My first journey took me from Kathmandu all the way to Everest Base Camp, and standing there for the first time, something in me settled. A certainty about what I wanted my life to be. It remains the journey closest to my heart. But it was only the start. Every trip after that showed me a little more of what Nepal holds, from the quiet of Lumbini, the devotion of Janakpur, the wildlife of Chitwan, to the highest peaks on earth rising just beyond my own city. Somewhere along all those journeys, I realized Nepal has more to offer the world than most of us notice. I have never stopped loving this country since, and I don't think I ever will.
I saw my father work in the tourism field for more than 20 years, and I wanted to create something of our own, using that expertise he had gained along with my own ideas, to make people see the majestic beauty of Nepal, my homeland. That's how Nepal Travel Mate began. I believe Nepal's tourism potential is still barely touched, and that beyond the handful of trails every guidebook already knows, there are valleys, festivals, communities, and landscapes waiting for someone to walk a traveler through them. Tourism, done right, is not extraction. It is an exchange, a livelihood for the guides, porters, and mountain communities who make every journey possible. It is a transformation for the traveler who returns home carrying a piece of this country with them.
We built Nepal Travel Mate so the exact team designing your custom itinerary is the one guiding you on the trail with no middlemen, total accountability, and local passion in every detail. We also live by an old belief here “Atithi Devo Bhava” which means that every guest is equal to God. Thus, we ensure your journey is safe, authentic, and genuinely life-changing. Whether you're seeking remote high-mountain passes or rich cultural exchanges, we would be deeply honored to welcome you to Nepal and walk beside you every step of the way.
